Something for Karis

Much like the old saying goes, that the cobbler's children have no shoes...the same has unfortunately been true for my little Karis. I have not really made her much of anything. I did, however, make a few burp cloths in the last few weeks, since we didn't have any.
I am so in love with this font too. (You can tell because I used it so much.) I also just love to see her name written out. :)
I also went ahead and added a little something extra to a couple of bibs. I will be doing a lot more of this, but we won't really need these at first.
That's it for my little girl for now. Oh, I did remember that I stitched her name out on a onesie for the hospital, but I'll wait and show you that when she's wearing it. :)

Happy Birthday Addy!

Again, I'm playing catch-up. In June sweet little Addyson turned 4! She had a Tinkerbell themed birthday party...and I got to make her birthday shirt. She really wanted everyone to know that she was going to be 4...so that was the most important element of the shirt. Because it was a Tinkerbell party, the colors were green and purple. So, here is what I came up with for her shirt.
I found a little Tinkerbell online, and I pulled it into my software and digitized the outline of it, to put above the 4. It's just a little something to help tie the theme of the party in to the shirt. I also picked a really curly font for her name, just for fun. Here's a closer look.
I also made Addy another little tee as part of her present. I found this shirt, which is one of my most favorite colors in the world...it's pretty much Terra Cotta. I decided to go with a very simple design, just an appliqued 'a'.
In hindsight I would have used a different fabric for the applique, but the colors matched really well. Usually I really like brown with this terra cotta color...but since Addy's birthday is in the summer, I wanted to do more summer-y colors. So, I went with a white outline and this brighter fabric.
Just a little something I made back in June. :)

Oh, The Shame

I can't even stand how long it's been since I've blogged. There was a reason I stopped, it's because I became pregnant. I kept trying to think about how to talk about it, and I had so many of my own issues to work through at the beginning. Most notably was my guilt over being pregnant, but still knowing sweet girls who were unable to get pregnant themselves. Then, I started my new job at Chick-fil-A and was quite sick through the first trimester. Then, I didn't blog because of guilt over not blogging. Then, I didn't blog because I wasn't really making anything. Are you seeing the pattern...the ridiculous snowball of a pattern? Just ridiculous. Well now, it's been so long that I'm going to let the past be the past and just start anew.

So, yes, I'm still pregnant. My due date is tomorrow, even though it seems as though Karis is not at all concerned about things like that. I was really hoping to have her this past weekend, and yesterday was really hard for me as I realized it wasn't happening. This morning I woke up with new resolve and I think it'll be a couple days still. I have an appointment in the morning, so we shall see what the doctor says.

Now that all of that is out of the way, I'll just go ahead and jump back into things. I'll share with you a project I made back in May. I was asked to make a diaper bag for a sweet girl at church. I kept going back and forth about what style, shape, size, etc. This is her third baby, but first boy. So I decided that with 3 kids, a bigger bag would be more practical. This is what I settled on.
I used the Spring Market Tote pattern from Homemade by Jill. However, I added a pocket to the outside and a few pockets on the inside.
I know there aren't many details here...but it's something. I will work on getting back with you with more in the future. Until then...
