Today

I'd like to say I feel a little accomplished for the day, especially since I didn't have all that much time at home. Although in reality, my list is still quite long. But, despite it all I thought I'd show you my projects for the day. We spent the morning helping some friends move. It was a rainy day, but we managed to get their truck packed without an inch to spare. John and I came home for a quick lunch then he had to go to work. So, I went to work too, in the craft room...and here are the results.

As you know by now, I absolutely adore this little bird. So I did a shirt with it. You see that little cutie up by the shoulder? Oh yeah, that's a birdie hair clip. I've seen things like this that are designs that you can purchase online...but I decided to give it a shot on my own. Not bad, eh? I think she's pretty stankin' cute.

The next few things aren't really new projects...just orders. I was asked to put Jude's name on some onesies. Here they are.

Annabel had this super cute poncho already, but her mom asked me to add her monogram. I typically don't take pictures of the things people give me to monogram. But, I think this poncho is so cute that I wanted to remember it. I'm gonna let it sit in the back of my mind to see if I can recreate one in the future. Here's a travel mug that someone ordered. It's hard to take pictures of these in such a way that they really look good. But I'm pretty happy with this one. I love the yellow fabric. This is something I helped a friend with. She already created and cut the A, but had some funk happen with her machine. So, I just finished the applique for her. She did a great job picking the fabric...and the shirt is cute too, love the buttons. After these things were finished, I headed to Target to buy a new Bissell Steam Mop. I'm super excited about it. I used it tonight in the kitchen...jury is still out. I'll let you know what I think.

Organization

Lately, I've been on a pretty big organization kick. I went through and re-organized everything in my craft room the other day. And slowly, I'm trying to work my way through closets. We both collected so much stuff before we got married, then we just combined 2 houses of stuff...and have continued to collect more stuff for the past 2 years. Alas, it's time to break the chain. Our linen closet was totally overrun by some things that we really don't use, but also aren't ready to get rid of. We could probably get some good use out of some of these things at a future house. So, we bought some of those vacuum-seal bags that squish your stuff down like crazy.
Here's our before. This is a super thick, plush queen size comforter.

Here is the after. I also added 3 sets of sheets and pillowcases plus 2 blankets. I'd say it did a pretty good job. If I had everything folded the same way, it would have gotten even smaller. But, we're happy with this and the space it'll save. Besides that, it was pretty cool watching everything squish down.

I also have several old bibs from when I first started embroidery. They are ok, but they're not my favorite, so I thought I would put several different designs on them to put them out at the craft fair. Here's a flower applique.

And this is just a ducky embroidery. I've been doing so much applique lately, that I wanted to just stitch something out. I think he's pretty cute. He reminds me of Little Suzy's Zoo, which I totally loved when I was younger.

Charlotte

I realized that I never posted pictures from our weekend in Charlotte a couple weeks ago. On Saturday we went to one of Cameron's soccer games. They did a great job. It did rain a bit, but the girls were total troopers and played through it all.

Later that day we went to a huge toy store that was having an even bigger sale. There were tons of toys in every direction. A child's dream. But this was, by far, my favorite display. The realm of possibilities here is endless. Little girls can slip into the world of Oz as Dorothy or don a feather boa and become a fabulous singer. Boys can slip on a cowboy hat and be the hero of a wild west tale or rule as the sheriff in town. So much imagination is laying there just waiting to be seized up. Perhaps, even the anticipation of stepping into another world is enough to bring just a bit of joy along the way.

Show Off

Autumn. She's here in full force now. So pretty. This weekend has been beautiful. It seems as though it happened over night and all of a sudden it's here. This is a view from up the parkway just a bit from our house.

Rust, burnt sienna, orange, terra cotta, gold, mustard, garnet...the most beautiful quilt of colors. She begs you to go grab a cup of something warm and sweet and curl up next to a fire basking in the pleasure of her warmth. Enjoy. The past few days I've been going for walks in the late afternoon/early evening around our neighborhood. Each day I pass by these trees...and I adore them. This golden beauty is in our own backyard. Did you know lemon yellow could stretch beyond summertime? Well, it can. Finally, here's a hello from the Williamson's. On the craft front... I designed this little airplane a month or so ago, I just didn't get to stitching him out until today. I think he's simple and sweet.

Madeline

I know I posted a picture of a shirt I made for Madeline a few days ago, but I accidentally cut that shirt. (stupid I know) So, tonight I made a new one. I actually like it better, even though it's only an M and not her full name. I also made a bow to match it.Here's a close up of the M. (sorry the flash made the color look a little crazy)And also, a matching sippy cup. This says Madeline on it and I used the same fabric as the shirt. We're meeting my parents tomorrow for dinner, so I'll give them to her then so she can pass them along to little Madeline. I hope she likes them. I'm certain she'll look super cute.

Just a few....

As it approaches craft fair time, I am going to try to be more intentional about not only getting projects done, but also getting pictures up. Tonight I finished up a few more bows...I did some yesterday, but didn't get any pictures.

I also did a wipes case for a new baby boy. These aren't my greatest projects...but I'm pretty interested in getting better at making them. So, alas, I will continue to try. Lastly, here is one of me and Bubba after our anniversary dinner last night. I just love him.

Baby Shower

We have a friend who is having a little girl in January; this weekend she had a baby shower. They are not sharing baby girl's name yet...so I decided to just make some cute girly things for her. I just love this little bird design. I put it on a onesie, bib, burp cloth and I made a hooded towel that I added thepattern to. I also made a paci clip with a coordinating fabric.

This is a little owl burp cloth I made this weekend too. I'll probably add some ribbon to the bottom and keep it for the craft fair in December.
I am also just about finished with a wipes case and a ton of bows. I also have started working on a cute new purse. More pictures of those things to come. Until then....

It Has Begun

Fall...she is finally poking her little head through the green...and she's as beautiful as ever. As promised, I took a drive around town and grabbed some pictures of her progress. I will do this again in a couple weeks, as obviously we have not hit peak yet. But the transition is just as pretty. And I thought you wouldn't mind to see it, especially you Florida folks.

First stop was at the church. I had to run up there to get some things set-up for a football team we're feeding today. Isn't it starting to look so good?

This is the edge of the church property. This is where you can see she's really showing off her mustards and yellows. Aren't these trees gorgeous? I used to live down this road in the other direction, just about 1/8 mile, before John and I got married. I passed this way yesterday and knew I had to come back today so I could get a picture to share with you. This is a little ways down that same street. You can see the first row of trees in the bottom right corner of this picture. I just love these trees. There's something about fall that stirs up a nostalgia in me...to another time, a time I didn't necessarily know. I feel as though there should be little boys with holes in the knees of their pants playing with toads and running down this street. And little girls with corduroy jumpers with braids and pigtails in their hair playing hopscotch. It's reminiscence of days past....when life was simpler and smaller. It's beautiful. For those of you who are unaware: orange was created for autumn. The color orange never looks quite as good as it does in October. Isn't it just so pretty when it's the fiery shade too?. I love this vine. This is a perfect picture of what fall looks like right now. Soon she'll be a beautiful blanket of mustard, orange, terra cotta, burnt sienna, cranberry, and chocolate goodness. But right now she's a beautiful scarf that you want to throw on with a shirt and a pair of jeans and know that even though it's simple, you'll still look fabulous. I'm excited for her to drape herself across the mountains...but the road to getting there is just as exciting.

Before going home, I went up to the parkway to snap a couple shots. If you look closely you'll see those beautiful colors nestled comfortably in the green, just waiting to burst forth in all their glory.

Here's one more from the parkway, overlooking the river. Back to the house. Here's a little bit of our front yard. I love that deep cranberry color we've got. I put my fall wreath on the door today. A week or two ago I decorated the inside of the house, but I haven't done anything yet outside. I've got the hankering to go buy some pumpkins...and mums...and hay bales. We'll see what I come up with. And here's a glimpse at the pretties we have in our backyard. That's the quick tour around town today. I promise to share more with you in the next couple of weeks.

Getting Caught Up

It's been a while since I've had time to upload more pictures. Since I was so anxious to do so, I went ahead and snapped a few tonight so I could get them posted. So, needless to say, they're taken inside rather than out...where it just so happens to be oh so pretty right now. I have plans to take pictures outside tomorrow to post...October in the mountains is just so fantastic.

This is another shirt that I made Cade for his birthday back in September. Cade's daddy played football for Alabama and they are still big fans...so I thought this was appropriate. This picture of the back isn't the greatest, but you get the picture.

This is a shirt I made for a little girl Madeline. I've still got to do a sippy cup for her and I thought a matching bow would be cute. Alas, there is always more work to be done. Madeline is the granddaughter of one of my mom's long-time friends....so this is a fun project.

I've been wanting to make pillowcase dresses for quite a while now. I've got several ideas swimming in my head for some holiday dresses...but I thought I should just dive right in and make one so I can figure it out. I know this one is simple, but I think the terra cotta color with brown is cute...especially for the fall. Now all it needs is a cute brown monogram on the chest, and perhaps even some ribbon or rick-rack across the bottom. Hmm...we'll see. I still like it. (Oh yeah, yes I know the ribbon ties are different lengths. I did that on purpose cause I'm trying to decide which one I like better).

This is the first project I made with my new software. It's not perfect and it was a trial run. I ended up doing an official bib and onesie for little Ruby with a different fabric and font...and I think they turned out super cute. But, unfortunately, I made those during the time when our camera was dead. Boo hiss...I won't be able to share that.

Ok, I promise to be better about pictures from here on out. Our camera battery is fully charged and ready to go. We're going to Charlotte this weekend to hangout with the crew...maybe we'll be able to get some cute pics then too. Until next time...K.
